What does it take to be a true servant leader? How do you know?

I think it takes sacrifice. Lots of it. And more than sacrificing time or family. I have remarked to people that I sacrifice anger a lot. I am working to give up on anger because there are so few opportunities for me to express anger appropriately and move the conversation, or people, forward.

While true change first comes through emotion, I totally understand why "anger" is not the one you want to display. I do think it is important to recognize what emotion you are feeling - just not act on it.

Sometimes it adds credibility to the words you say when you express that emotion - but, like I said, just not act on it.

I also believe strongly that to be a "servant leader," you have to be willing to take people from where they are toward where you and they want to be. It does mean putting their needs first.

I agree wholeheartedly. I appreciate the feedback. I truly do want to move people from where they are to where they want (and need) to be.
